A Male Shop Assistant Stepped Forward and Subdued a Homeless Man Who Had Chopped and Injured a Female Employee!!!

Chaos erupted at a downtown convenience store yesterday afternoon when a homeless man armed with a meat cleaver attacked a female employee, leaving her with severe lacerations to her arms and shoulder. The situation, which witnesses described as “pure terror,” was brought to a swift and decisive end when a male shop assistant stepped forward and subdued the assailant before he could inflict further harm.

The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. at the 7-Eleven on Westlake Avenue. According to police reports, the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Marcus Thorne, entered the store and began arguing with the cashier, 29-year-old Maria Santos, over being asked to leave after allegedly attempting to steal snacks. Within seconds, Thorne produced a cleaver from his backpack and swung it wildly at Santos, striking her multiple times. Customers screamed and scattered as blood pooled on the tile floor.

That was when 32-year-old assistant manager David Chen, who had been stocking shelves in the back, heard the commotion. Without hesitation, Chen rushed forward, grabbing a heavy fire extinguisher as a shield. He intercepted Thorne mid-swing, disarming him with a powerful strike to the wrist before pinning him to the ground until police arrived four minutes later. Chen’s quick thinking undoubtedly saved Santos from more catastrophic injuries.

“Honestly, I just saw her going down and I reacted,” Chen told reporters later, his hands still shaking. “She’s my coworker. She’s like family. I couldn’t stand there and do nothing.”

Santos was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where she underwent emergency surgery. Doctors say she is in stable condition but faces a long recovery. Thorne is now in custody facing charges of first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon.

Store management has praised Chen’s bravery, and local residents have launched a small fundraiser to support both Santos’s medical bills and Chen’s recognition. While the attack has left the community shaken, many are calling Chen a hero for stepping forward when it mattered most.
