On August 7th, 2023, what began as a family grocery trip ended in a chaotic scene of screaming, restraints, and a daughter physically dragged away from her parents in handcuffs. Officers were dispatched to a parking lot following reports of a domestic dispute between a mother and her daughter, identified as Maxine.
Upon arrival, the father, appearing visibly exhausted, explained that the conflict started over commodities. The mother alleged that Maxine threw a temper tantrum when threatened with being left behind. “She hit me here, she hit me here,” the mother told the officer, claiming Maxine also threw a bag of sugar at her face while inside their vehicle.
When officers located Maxine, she was hiding behind a nearby wall, crying and denying the allegations. “My mom threatening… she said she was going to call you if I said or did anything wrong,” Maxine pleaded. She admitted she was “going to” hit her mother but claimed her father stopped it. However, after investigating the claims and noting fresh scratches on the mother, the officer determined Maxine was the primary aggressor.
The situation escalated rapidly when the officer moved to arrest Maxine. She collapsed to the ground, refusing to walk, and began screaming hysterically at her father, referred to as “Johnny,” to intervene. “Dad! I’m your only fing kid! Let me go right now!” she shrieked. As officers struggled to control her, eventually placing her in a “WRAP” restraint device due to her kicking and resistance, she continued to verbally lash out at her father. “You’re such a fing disappointment, Johnny! You really want me to be in jail?”
Maxine was transported to the hospital for medical clearance, where she continued to argue with officers, claiming her arrest was wrongful. She was ultimately cleared and booked into jail, facing charges of Battery Against a Household Member and Resisting Arrest.
